Free Consultation

A consultation call is a great opportunity to meet with a provider without any obligation or pressure. You can share your situation, ask questions, and gauge whether it would be a good therapeutic fit.

Intake Sessions for New Clients

The first session in therapy is the intake session. The purpose of the intake session is for the therapist and you to create the most whole and accurate picture of you as possible. It can feel a bit rigid because your therapist is following a structured interview, but this information helps you decide where to get started.

Individual Therapy Session for Established Clients

Therapy tends to focus on the past while moving towards a brighter future. Therapy is introspective and often less goal-oriented than coaching. Therapists work through emotions, behaviors, and thought patterns with their clients. They usually focus on why things are the way they are.

Couples Counseling

Life Coaching

If you want to work on your mindset or meet your goals, hiring a coach could be the right move. Maybe you have financial, professional, or relationship goals you want to achieve. Hiring a life coach is a good idea if you have specific goals you want to attain.

Mayumi served in the United States Navy, where she specialized in operations. Upon separation, she completed her Masters in Social Work at University of New Hampshire. She worked in various setting such as home hospice, in-patient psych, crisis team and eventually settled in as a House of Corrections Program Director for a Veteran’s unit. She continued her PTSD and trauma work with Veterans that experienced trauma from combat and sexual trauma. Mayumi founded Insight Therapy and Consulting LLC as a way to serve the intersecting and diverse community she experienced along her journey.

Mayumi’s approach to therapy is humanistic and relational, but other modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, internal family systems, mindfulness, and the science behind human behavior. Guided by progress, therapy should be collaborative, organic, and fluid.

Mayumi’s style of therapy can be described as direct, blunt, with a lot humor. Validation, compassion, and encouragement are essential, sugarcoating reality is not. She feels that any relationship can be a model on how to trust, communicate, and connect - and that includes the therapeutic relationship.

I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) therapist who works with teens, adults, and couples as they address anxiety, depression, life changes, and BIPOC-related issues. It can be tough for one to prioritize themselves in this busy world. Making the decision to attend therapy can be overwhelming and sprinkled with skepticism. How can “talking” help with anything?

I approach my practice from a strength-based perspective, with humility, patience, and curiosity. The client is the expert. You have come this far on your own, let’s build on that! Let’s discuss present stressors, identify triggers, and disrupt patterns, so you can finally move past and forward. Therapy is sacred and personal. I strive to create a therapeutic space that is safe, empowering and built on trust. I look forward to joining you on this next stage of your journey.

Nada provides individual and group therapy to children, teens, and adults struggling with various difficulties including unresolved trauma, attachment deficits, adoption or foster care trauma, systemic oppression, childhood abuse or neglect, grief, spiritual crises, relationship ruptures, and behavioral problems.

Diagnoses are one way to identify symptoms that cause suffering, but it’s crucial that we also view from the lens of how our brain and body process information, store experiences, and often trap extreme beliefs, emotions and sensations associated with distressing experiences. Nada honors that, in most cases, clients are doing the best they can with the creative and unique adaptations their brain and body have made to survive and navigate the challenges that have been placed in front of them.

Combining compassion, humor, and a high regard for cultural humility, she views clients as collaborative and active participants in therapy from determining goals, to speaking openly, setting boundaries, and offering feedback. Clients and therapists should work together to restore the power and capacity to choose, feel, and live.

Nada uses Trauma-Sensitive Yoga, EMDR, and adjunct approaches to support clients’ healing from overwhelming feelings, thoughts, and body sensations.
